Welcome to the web site of Amadeus: The Chamber Choir.
Amadeus: The
Chamber Choir was formed in January 2000. We are a group
of 20 singers based in Formby in the North West of England with
a wide-ranging repertoire from church music and madrigals to
contemporary works and broadway songs. We sing for our own enjoyment
but we are also available for all types of event including
charity concerts, weddings and church services. We are a regular
guest choir for services at Blackburn and Chester Cathedrals. We have sung in
Durham Cathedral, Liverpool Town Hall and
at the Liverpool Football Club ground at Anfield. In 2002 we visited
Paris and sang in La Madeleine and Notre Dame. In 2004 we were
invited to sing in Vienna; and sang in Lancaster for the High Sherriff
of Lancashire's Shield Ceremony at the Priory and Town Hall.
In 2005 we sang in Venice, including singing music by Monteverdi
by his burial place in the Church of Santa Maria Gloriosa dei Frari. In 2007 we sang
evensong at Clare College and Selwyn College in Cambridge.
In October this year we will
be visiting Rome and will be singing Mass in St Peter's Basilica.
We are conducted by David Holroyd
who is Director of Music at Merchant Taylors' School in Crosby, Liverpool.
